fanatical friday

Of course, YouTube has disabled the embed for this awesome audition from the X Factor, Britain's version of American Idol. Check out Danyl Johnson here. I think this is the best version of a Beatles cover I have heard in a very, very long time.

Enjoy!!

the magic hat

Mem Fox has been featured on my Favorite Children's Books list before. I'm really becoming quite attached to her quirkiness and creative way of thinking. So we have checked out a few more of her books from the library and, as you would probably guess, quite enjoyed them. This rhyming, rollicking read, titled The Magic Hat, takes us through a town where a magic hat sits on the top of various heads and poof! instantly transforms them into an animal. The cute story keeps you guessing up until the very last page.

Hello Baby! introduces us to a bevy of baby animals including a gecko, a clever monkey, and a dusty lion cub. In the end, the baby in this story discovers the most precious creature of all...itself!!

Mem holds the reader with the exuberant rhyming text and is an irresistible read for my kids! Check them out. :)

coldplay challenge

I have listened to Coldplay since their first hit "Yellow" ran non-stop on the radio. But it hasn't been ranked among my top 5 bands. After seeing this interview on 60 minutes, I have decided to give them another chance. There are loads of their songs that I love...so why not?? So if you see me with my iPod or jamming to music in my car, you will know what I'm listening to. Anyone else a Coldplay fan?

Here is the interview:

SYTYCD

I had not been hooked on to So You Think You Can Dance until this season. Sad, I know. I had watched bits and pieces of the other seasons but never really got into it. I loved, loved this season!! I'm really excited about Jeanine winning. Her and Jason's dance to If It Kills Me by Jason Mraz is one of my faves from the season. But my most favorite dance was the Addiction dance by Kayla and Kapono.

Kapono wasn't a favorite until this dance. I really felt like this dance brought more out of him than I had seen before. I had goose bumps when I first saw this. It is very emotional and choreographed by the genius Mia Michaels.

Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

What was your favorite from this season??

clint's design

SO my totally cool twin bro is in a contest. He designed this t-shirt for a band and loaded it on to the Hurley website. Everyone gets a chance to vote on their fave design and whomever wins, gets $1,000 and has their t-shirt on sell for purchase. Here is where you come in: go to this link and vote for his design. You will need to sign up or register on the site but it is totally worth it. Clint is the best and needs your support. The highest rating is a 5...and I expect you to give it to him. Get to steppin'!!!
